America is excessively enhancing its balance sheet to prettify its own economic appearance compared to Europe's, the Economist is now reporting.

Since the middle of the nineties, Fredmund Malik has been pointing out this deplorable state of affairs which was still pretty much unknown to the public, despite being a highly explosive issue. For example, without the cosmetic enhancements the public-sector debts of America would be on par with Portugal's.
